The Living Quietness

The whole world is your home. I am the Mother of the wicked, I am the Mother of the virtuous. Whenever you are in distress, say that 'I have a Mother'. Sri Sarada Devi.

I Belong To God Alone

I relate to my roles,
But I also identify with them;
I ask it is nevermore so,
For I belong to God Alone.

I relate to the work that I do
- with the dishes, the clothes, the food
Which I love to do in the family -
But I also identify with it.
I ask it is nevermore so,
For I belong to God Alone.

I relate as a wife
- I love my husband in the role of a wife -
But I also identify myself with it.
I ask it is nevermore so,
For I belong to God Alone.

I engage with my children as a mother
- I love putting them to sleep, change clothing,
and help take food -
But I also identify myself with it.
I ask it is nevermore so,
For I belong to God Alone.

I like being a daughter
- I cherish being treated a child -
But I also identify with it.
I ask it is nevermore so,
For I belong to God Alone.

I belong to God Alone.
Now my role as a homemaker
Is an offering to God.

I belong to God Alone.
Now my role as a wife
Calls on God to Partner with me,
And to Partner with my husband.

I belong to God Alone.
Now my role as a mother
Calls on God to mother me
And to mother my children.

I belong to God Alone.
Now my role as a daughter
Calls on God to be my first Parents
And to Parent my parents.

Now as I belong to God Alone
I experience -
My work is performed through the hands of God;
My husband is a being of God;
My children are God's;
And my parents come from the source of God too.
