The Living Quietness

The whole world is your home. I am the Mother of the wicked, I am the Mother of the virtuous. Whenever you are in distress, say that 'I have a Mother'. Sri Sarada Devi.

Desires and Leadership

There is an anecdote in a book, called 'The Divine Mother' that was brought forth to bring the wisdom of Padmavathy Amma, founder of the Oneness University. A devotee shares with her his experiences of disappointment with a spiritual organization. The Divine Mother explains the reality of its existence, that backbiting and gossips exists where ever people exist and that no place is an exclusion to the reality of this state. When the time comes the consciousness would engulf humanity toward its betterment. Until then she encourages the devotee, continue to do your part.

The wisdom brings me the comfort of acceptance of the atrocities that binds everyone with suffering.

Along with Acceptance, there shows up a vision of a power to release everyone from struggles - by this time, I have come to recognize I cannot live devoid of struggles for and by myself! That the one way is to hold dear the true desires that resides in the heart.

I remember again the reply of the Tibetan leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama - the question was whether he will reincarnate to continue to be with his people of Tibet.

This extraordinary leader who is to his people as Gandhi was to India, replied that it is left to the people of Tibet, as to whether they want him back or not. Another great saint is said to have replied similarly to his student-devotees - Swami Chinmayananda has said that his life and work were held only by them. If the devotees didn't seek it in him, he would not be.

I thought if it is so, then it is left to me not so much as to fight that which causes suffering but to recognize and accept the roots of it and hold dear and nurture for example, the need for leaders - in places big or small - who are capable of bringing joy and expansion. That if enough in the collective "desire" something, it can "have" it.
