The Living Quietness

The whole world is your home. I am the Mother of the wicked, I am the Mother of the virtuous. Whenever you are in distress, say that 'I have a Mother'. Sri Sarada Devi.

Taking time for God

Mother Sarada, this is my time.

Know me before my mind dozes off,

Be alive before I haste off to my chores.

If my stomach or hip burns,

Can I not know of any of life’s way

That is Divine?

I have forgotten

From where I have.

I have not much time

To meet you here.

It just disappears –

Into chores, sleep, and

Laughter and sorrow that are

Of a lost world.

I know you are real.

Yet I have no idea of

How you are real.

Chores and sleep are waiting.

I snatch this moment

Asking you all that I want to ask you

And know from you.

I have seen you in pictures

And in the love statements

Of your loved ones, your devotees –

From books written about you.

Yet I want to know,

Who are you?

How did you look like?

I cannot come near you

Except for this moment;

Chores and sleep

Drive my time.

Just for this moment

I want to know

You are real.

You are alive like Vinayaka.

Just for this moment

I guess you were radiant.

Just for this moment

Let me not just dream about you.

But want to know

You are real.

Who are you?

Are you and me the same?

Chores and sleep are waiting.

Yet let me come back to you.

I want to know you

Till I know you.
